Paolo Roversi: Palais Galliera 2024
Exhibition from 16 March to 14 July 2024 at the Palais Galliera Paolo Roversi, a native of Ravenna, arrived in Paris in 1973 and began to produce his first series in 1977. From then on, he devoted himself to fashion photography, working for the greatest designers and the most prestigious magazines.
A major player in French photography over the last forty years, he has remained both at the heart of the system and at a distance, far removed from the ephemeral currents of fashion. In his search for beauty, he has honestly created a unique and mysterious body of work that is timeless.
His choice of studio, large-format camera and Polaroid would define the photographer's style and way of working for years to come. At the heart of his work are his encounters and loyal relationships with fashion designers and models. Paolo Roversi's world harmonises with that of Yamamoto, as well as Romeo Gigli, Rei Kawakubo and Dior. Each new collaboration is a challenge to renew himself.
The book accompanying the exhibition at the Palais Galliera was conceived and designed in close collaboration with the artist.
